Rains are still to come apparently, but at least the wind will be less stressful. 😀

It took a few days: the first backup run to #hetzner has finished. And I also deleted the data from my OneDrive account. Feels good.

So I have gone down a completely different route and use Webdav. Seems to be the only "works right away" connection from my #qnap to #hetzner .

Setting up the switch was as easy as expected. It showed up in the Omada Controller straight away as well, adopting with no issues.

Then I saw a bunch of wired clients showing as connected to that switch, but they are not, they are connected to my main switch!

I spend waaaay too long finally realising, that because my main switch is not controlled by the Omada Controller (not compatible), the Omada Controller thinks everything is connected to the switch it CAN see.

The PoE is to power the access point there. Now it is power via the external brick. This is a nicer solution and I picked this switch because it apparently is manageable via the Omada controller. 🙂

And then I decided to update the Bios of my main PC right before dinner. Because last time it went without an issue... yeah, not so much...

After dinner I turned it back on and it booted like nothing happened! Which is great, because I wasn't looking forward spending my Saturday night trying to figure out how the Bios reset function on my motherboard works.

I ended up configuring a Proxmox LXC container as a dedicated exit node. Went pretty smooth and it all seems to work. 👍

For office apps we can move to LibreOffice, I think that will work more than fine for our needs.

I have been using OneDrive as backup (simply because we had it.), moving away from that definitely will need some research.

Any suggestions from #homelab / #homenetwork people regarding online backup services? I don't need that much. 0.5 TB would be fine, but 1TB would give some room going forward.

Today, I added a Broadlink IR Blaster to my #homeassistant setup in order to control the AC in the kitchen, because AC remote controls suck.

I spent the most time trying to get the little device to connect to my network. 😂

Once that was sorted out, adding it to Home Assistant and getting #SmartIR to work was pretty straight forward.

The control commands are already included in SmartIR, so no need to mess with learning IR commands and stuff.

And it all works. First impressions are good. 😀
