Went to the Everything Electric Show in Sydney yesterday. Australians are really spoint for choice when it comes to electric cars. Some of the new Chinese EVs are excellent (see Zeekr, Xpeng, Geely and BYD), and feature-for-feature are amazing value compared with the European brands. Also got to see the Swasticar Cybertruck - if possible it is even bigger and uglier than photos suggest. Amazing for what is supposedly a Show-Car, the panel fit on the Cybertruck was worse than what you would have seen on a 1970s Holden. Anyway, the Cybertruck is totally incompatible with urban environments and should be banned from Australian roads.

Today I have canceled Amazon Prime, and have resolved not to buy any more eBooks for my Kindle. I completed the questionnaire, stating my decision was based on Amazon's support for criminal and fascist Trump. I don't suppose my cancellation alone will make a difference, however it is one thing that is within my power and if more people do the same thing then maybe it will make a difference.

I am increasingly pessimistic about the US elections, and suspect the Mango Moron will be elected. He will undoubtedly be disastrous for society, the environment and the economy, both domestically and internationally. But I doubt there will be much "buyer's remorse" from the MAGA crowd, no matter how bad it gets for them personally, as long as it gets even worse for people they hate. Sure, I lost my job and healthcare, the banks have foreclosed, the climate is collapsing, but isn't it great that Trump has locked up a bunch of brown folks in internment camps...

Australian Telcos to stop providing services to any devices they cannot confirm as having full support for emergency dialing. Means that many 4G and 5G phones may be blocked from Australian networks from 1st November. Especially an issue if you purchased your phone overseas of not from one of the telcos.
