Last night I rewatched #CapeFear after a 20-something year gap.

The story is ripe; I mean, really, really ripe. But it’s directed with such panache, an incredible score, & with standout performances from DeNiro and Lewis.

Although *that* scene between DeNiro and Lewis was a tough, tough watch.

Over at Bluesky, I’m listing my 20 most important/impactful books and this is number 9.

I love Chuck Palahaniuk and, imo, his output, from Invisible Monsters through to Rank, is unrivalled. But, of all those incredible novels, Lullaby is my favourite.

Such a twisted set up. Strikingly original characters. And some of my favourite - and vividly drawn - scenes in modern literature.

Oh, and that ending - ‘cos, whatever else, that ending hits hard.
