An interesting read for anyone interested in #edtech, #OpenAccess, or #academicpublishing.

An interesting read for anyone interested in #edtech,...Now, unfortunately, at first read, you may get confused, and this is because there is a typo. When Cajori converts the number 8605729398715 to "small numbers", the resulting number is missing a leading 1. But he also handwaves the algorithm a bit, and so I decided to make a video walking through the algorithm. It's a fun example, using little more than understanding of place value, which you might find interesting!

It's a beautifully short (<1 page) and simple proof that I encourage you to check out.
I noticed, however, that it seemed it could easily be adapted to go a more differential equations route, so I rewrote it. If you're at all interested in DEs, check it out!

I’d encourage others to do the same as you are able, particularly session organizers who may be able to organize these efforts more broadly #disruptJMM

For students and colleagues for whom attending JMM is unsafe (see the i/e blog post below by Piper H for a small sample of the reasons why), I plan to make my slides, the paper on which the slides are based, and a recorded version of my talk freely available online soon.

The Department of Mathematical Sciences at Appalachian State is searching for a new department chair. Application review begins 2/3/23 (it is currently incorrect in the ad, but 2/3/23 is the correct date).
