Reading "Revlutionary Road" by Richard Yates.

First thoughts:
1. Wow! People did alot of drinking then (1961).

2. ALL the men served in WWII. Everyone. Although my own son is a Marine right now, that's voluntary; it is shocking to look back at the draft. I was a child during Vietnam (last draft) and I'm not sure what my feelings are Draft vs.No draft.

3. My Dad pointed me towards the timeline of Depression to War to Suburbs, house, kids, picket fence

I just joined this afternoon so I want to apologize for my etiquette misstep and introduce myself now.

I'm Eileen Finnegan and am a 56 year old Mother of a Marine; a survivor of the autoimmune disease Guillain-Barre (7 years to recover from onset to being able to jog on a treadmill); a trained Art Historian not now doing anything with it; a conscientious daughter to my loving Dad, amongst other things.

I am a refugee from the birdbath but am kind and open minded.
