In most of #StarTrek, we see two basic forms of Starfleet #uniforms, one with trousers and one without (for example the skant on TNG or the long tunic and leggings on SNW). Focusing on female presenting characters (the main male presenting ones always wear trousers), why do our characters never switch? In SNW we never see Una in trousers, while Ortegas only wears them. I think this is true for ALL main chars across all shows. At least ONE person should be wearing both at different times, right?

I have wild grape vines in my backyard. I don't do anything with them, and most years the animals get the grapes. But this year (today) I got a few. I could literally smell them and followed my nose. Unlike store-bought, they have seeds and very thick skins and are much more tart, but still full of grape goodness. I've found the vines spread rapidly and have also grown from grapes I've simply thrown on the ground in the past! #Autumn #Grapes #Foraging #Food

If we assume the Federation's culture is an average of the cultures of its members, one might imagine that if the Federation is large enough, and the "other Federation" it encounters is large enough, that their cultures might actually be very similar, maybe even indistinguishable! However, if this were ever portrayed in film or TV, I think the writers would choose to show some massive difference. Maybe the Prime Directive. That would be a fascinating story! #StarTrek

I always wondered why Data has such problems emulating humans, while the holodeck can run dozens (or hundreds?) of "Non-Player Characters" that seem fully human. It's because the NPCs are the equivalent of LLMs, and Data is a conscious being. (Yes, there are some examples of holodeck characters growing into consciousness, like the Doctor in Voyager, but they never made sense, really.) #AI
