He was having a lot of trouble finding a new berth, his age and his not getting along with cats being an issue. But he's agreed to come here and give it a shot to see how the facilities measure up. He says might even stay for a bit if the place is up to scratch.

Could probably dial it out by adjusting the pilot screws, but the middle two are pretty much impossible to turn accurately without the special tool. I sourced longer screws but they fouled the carb heater hoses and clips. So extended them by soldering on brass rod and grinding the knurling off for clearance. Now all adjustable by hand with no tools, sorted 👍

I removed the mouldings and veneer. It's made of plywood, so I sanded that till nice. Stained it, then cleaned up, repaired and re-glued the mouldings, finishing with Danish oil. Not too shabby a result, it'll have some more life yet. Something very satisfying about taking something destined for landfill and making it useful again.

Drilled the hole out slightly until a small split pin fitted nicely, sorted, job's a good un 👍
