I liked what Dad had said about it, especially turning the tables on white people in America, saying that white culture is broken. What part I have just read is a criticism of Christianity by way of his account of being a Minister at a young age.

I have read the first 27 pages of James Baldwin's The Fire Next Time. I have read for about half an hour. I see this book is only 108 pages long, but it is dense. Which is not the same as 'not an easy read.' It is extremely compelling but dense with ideas; each sentence warrants contemplation.

This movie has aged well. I was just as impressed watching it 27 years later. Like all good art, it's open to interpretations. The Truman Show can an allegory for many things. I have been listening to a lot of podcasts about cults, and so I was thinking about it through that lens. The director is the cult leader, saying things like "he could leave at any time, if he really wanted to," and at the end, trying to talk him into staying because the outside world is chaotic and dangerous.

I forgot how talented Jim Carey is in drama. I think this is the first time the world found that out. He is amazing in this role.

Attempt #2: ADHD Explained by Dr. Edward M. Hallowell.

I spent 15 minutes re-reading/skimming to find my place because someone moved my bookmark. And 5-10 minutes reading new material.

Overall, I'm on page 42. I think it's pretty good but so far mostly stuff I already knew but well articulated and in some places put from a fresh perspective. It's very well set-up visually for readers with ADHD and I appreciate that.

I wrote this at the beginning of the year. It's about a childhood memory. But the themes it brought up for me, are something I keep coming back to this year. The balance within myself between a need for solitude and a need for human connection. It is called Skull Cave.

Queer friends, can you please weigh in on this question? If you are straight and want to signal ally/solidarity, is a rainbow pin/ progressive rainbow pin on your clothes acceptable? Or does this signal you are a member of the rainbow community, and you should pick something that specifically signals 'ally.' As a queer person, this is not a question I've thought about until now; asking for my Dad who wants to show support.

Buying basic clothes items: I just bought bras and underwear online, looking at my existing ones and getting the same thing (in new exciting colours!) At the beginning of the year, I actually picked one clothes item a month to buy and put it into my day planner (socks, underwear, leggings, t-shirts, camis).
