More than once, I’ve had field technicians disconnect customer service at the pole due to “interference” by field technicians, including at my own house. It took 7-10 days to get service restored. No one knocked on the door, left a note, or even flagged the address internally when we open a ticket. 😭​

A customer moves across town and recommends the next occupant of their home to sign up with internet service with my company. Mysteriously, in the month intervening, that location is now “not serviceable”.

The address on either side and across the street are, and I have an active customer 2 blocks over. 🤔​

The incumbent providers have received government funding more than once to expand rural broadband.

This results in city customers getting access to faster service every 5 or so years. The truly rural customers are still using dial-up, and a lucky few have 3mbps DSL.

The size of the broadband footprint never seems to get any bigger.

I'm a small business owner, and operate Secure by Design. It's a regional internet service provider.

I have worked with #OpenSource software, including #Debian & #OpenBSD, and can run the entire LAMP / LEMP stack. I also operate email servers and #NextCloud.

I'm married with 5 adult children, and an increasing number of grand-children. ❤️​
