The Observable Plot library (by the #D3 team) has such a fantastic documentation! It goes way beyond the technicalities and is a well structured and inspiring resource of #dataviz methods and building blocks. Kudos @observablehq !

"There's not a switch. Two storage methods will be in parallel.
DB storage is for users looking for good outliner performance and structured data support. Also, there will be a full graph markdown export with automatic refreshing to cover the local-first demands."
I'm happy they at least don't drop their file based approach completly

It very often boils down to the common "yes but there's a plugin for that in obsidian" - but I agree that loqseq's native and very thorough block based approach does make a difference - and it cannot be fully emulated in obsidian.

A bit surprising (but not without reason) @kepano explains that there are no attempts to integrate dataview/datacore stronger into #obsidian. They are currently working on metadata improvements though, that makes adding and accessing metadata easier both for users and developers.

I like how much emphasis he puts on "files over apps" to ensure longevity and exstensibility. There are probably not many CEOs who will tell you that their product is bound to vanish eventually and therefore ensure that you still keep your data in a useful format.

While #logseq is also markdown based and local, its much more reliant on the application to retrieve the structure, which I find acceptable for shorter-lived, project related notes.

Although this structural overhead seems necessary it also provides an extreme degree of personalisation and you get a local folder structure with (almost) standard markdown files to future-proof your notes. Especially the latter I deem essential for long-lived notes.
