I recently found this roadmap to Cybersecurity, super handy: https://roadmap.sh/cyber-security
It gives you a step by step guideline on what to learn about and which certificates might come in handy. I actually have a printed out version next to my desk, although the online variant also supports tracking and gives a bit additional info on what each step should cover.

They also gave more IT and CS related roadmaps, if you're more interested in any other field. :)

I checked out Cybersecurity Canon but could only find a single Hardware Hacking book in their list. I'm looking for books about Pentesting Hardware, a general overview about embedded software security or even some general Cybersecurity books, if the contents transfer well.

Any pointers?
