A woman I know loves #Wicked because she saw the theater showing in 2017. I went with her to watch the movie to see what's the big deal & to spend time with her.

No spoilers: I came away very impressed with the film, characters, singing, & setting. I am actually looking forward to watching part 2 next year.

My (date?/friend?) said she had low expectations but the movie exceeded them & was very impressed. We then ate at a local Dairy Queen to talk about the film & other nerdy topics.

...It's our expectation of good character and conduct toward others in association leading one of the biggest countries on the planet. The results of this presidential election have shown me these things have no bearing on voting a leader. We all have seen his behaviors, his actions, the impact of his words. And yet...over half the country wanted him to be the leader of our country.

And that doesn't make me sad or angry, it's just makes me massively disappointed.

I went to church this morning hoping for encouragement from the Presidential election results. Instead, I heard a "both-sides-ism" sermon that, whether you voted one candidate or the other, God is still in charge and that we should not put our "trust in princes" (leaders) while calling for us to care for people who are poor and marginalized.

Reflecting on this sermon, it just added to my disappointment of this election for one primary reason among others...

I am sad, folks. I don't know what else to say that hasn't already been expressed so far with the presidential election results. But I will say that in my season of sadness and eating my feelings at a local taco chain, my daughter (who voted in her first election) called me and told me she was feeling the same but looked at the silver lining of things. She also said the results won't discourage her from voting in the next cycle but increased her resolve. I'm so proud of her.

I am a CIS, straight white male & this presidential election has got me anxious because I worry about the people that are most impacted by the results, especially those I care for & love. Seeing "projections" showing Trump winning & how "close" this race is has caused me to delete the Mastodon app on my phone & block news sources for the next several days.
