I think it's a waste that chicks get shredded, but no-one is making capons, and people don't want to pay for useless cocks, It'd double the cost of eggs probably.

Even if we didn't have capitalism, would we spend the extra resources on making capons, or would we send cute fluffy chicks to be instantly killed in shredders. And honestly I think the shredders are better than gassing, co2 is just "clean" not kind.

You get some people who are now devoted trauma bonded individuals, but you also just desensitise some people.
