I love that you said "utopias don't exist, but we do." I think one thing that gets people so discouraged is that after all the seeming progress we've made that we haven't reached a utopian state. We're humans, and it's not in our nature to thrive in a utopia. We need adversity, challenges, struggles and failures to advance, evolve, become better and stronger. It's also how we can empathize w/others who struggle & face hardships.

I loved reading as a child. My aunt was a public school teacher for special needs children, so she always got a solid discount on the Scholastic fliers that came around to the schools. When I was five, she told me to pick as many books as I wanted. I don't think she realized the treasure trove she had unlocked for me, because I picked 10 or 11 books. She was stunned that I wanted that many. She said she'd get them this time, but I was limited to 3 next time. LOL

I'm finally clipping my wings. That site has become too harmful for me. I'm still grieving for my dead son, and this past Mother's Day is still hitting me hard. I've been so heartbroken and devastated, and it's been hard to put on a brave face for the ones I'm trying to help through their own hardships. I can't take seeing the cruelty of people who don't know me or my son saying the most vile things. I know I won't run into that here.

I think I may just need to give up on the site formerly known by its blue bird logo. I made the mistake of fearlessly discussing aspects of my 35 years of abuse, how proud I was of my sons, and how devastating my oldest son's death was 9 months ago. These things are now being used to attack, malign, and attempt to hurt me, and in some cases it has hurt. I can take a lot of damage, but I have my limits. I just want authentic connection with others. #connections #survivors #griefprocess
