We hit the dog lottery with Cordelia seven yrs ago. She is the most well behaved doggo we've ever had. Never makes any messes. Never destroys stuffed animals. Never tries to get in trash or pull food off tables or counters. It's not us; it's her. Pure luck. This is a continuation of my proselytizing for doing things yourself. Repairs are mostly plug and play jigsaw puzzles, and in the past ten years I've saved roughly $20,000 in either repair costs or replacement purchases. I've fixed ovens, ac units, every inch of my cars, a furnace, and even my plasma tv, among many other things. All the info was freely available online, often with step by step instruction videos.

Btw, 20 yrs ago I couldn't even repair a relationship, let alone a car or furnace.

Newfound repair knowledge, part eleventy-six: over the weekend I replaced my car's tie rods. It was a new one for me, but it turned out to be quite a simple process (made somewhat difficult due to time/heat/rust making removing the old ones strenuous). Today I got the front end aligned and learned:

1. I had done a good job
2. I had managed to get the alignment to within a few percent of true

(Insert grunting sounds here)

Nissan wanted $550 to do it. Cost me $50 and 90 minutes time.

In light of the crazy HBO news, I'd recommend checking out The Nevers. It's a bit shaky out the gate, and Whedon is obv a prick, but despite all of that I ended up liking the show. And a late in the season episode centered around @TheClaudiaBlack was fking terrific.
