I finally got an afternoon wander in as the weather was cooperating.

I love my mountains.social home but I always feel like I'm not quite posting in the right place when I'm excited about the latest handmaking project. So I've been kindly accepted at sunny.garden and will be posting my makings and doings there @otherryn@sunny.garden
The more hiking, outdoors, mountainy-things will be here, though!

(I love my current instance and will keep it but I also know that the admin created it for mountain-y things and I want to respect that.)
So... thanks for interacting with me which got me to find out about the instance you're on that got me to go "oh hey, this would be a good fit for this stuff."

If I'd had time this morning, I would have walked down the valley a little bit to breathe in the fog.

He also does not like the laminate floor because he is all leg and has a high center of gravity.
Today he came up the stairs and into my office. Right now he's lying on the rug on the landing outside my office at the top of the stairs.
I have never been prouder of another living thing in my life.
Look at you, buddy! Conquering your fears at your own pace!
I'm going to have to get a rug or two for my office and a dog bed and some upstairs only treats and toys for him.

We went from warm last week to cool and a little windy this week, the leaves are turning orange and yellow and red and shimmering on the trees as the breeze moves through.
It's one of those things that's hard to see when you live in a city.

We had our last gasp of summer last week and now it's turning crisp in the morning (still dew on the leaves, not frost).
It does not stop our giant puppy from having the zoomies as soon as I take his lead off and give him the release command. He looks like a deer gliding through the forest. (Not a surprise given he's part Wolfhound.)
Bambi is close enough to Basti, right? He'll transfer to that name in no time.

The Mexican Food store in her country doesn't carry cheese. Mine does. The one in mine doesn't carry fresh chiles. Hers does. We've got plans.
Delicious plans.
Also, tamale making is desperately boring alone. WIth a friend? Done in no time.
When she's at mine, we'll probably also make some homemade enchilada sauce that I will pressure can and send her home with.

I was going to cut it into pieces because I thought it was dead but it bloomed and put on apples. After I pick the apples, I'm going to put it back upright and do a hard prune on it once the leaves have fallen. If it lives, yay! If not, we got one more year out of it than I was expecting.

Why? Because I've realised I need to make and pack food along and I cannot assume or hope that there will be enough time to get an adequate meal when DB is engaged in the level of weird that it currently has with lines under construction and not putting enough replacement buses on the line and me not getting my first meal until nearly midnight last week not that I'm still bitter about that entire situation.
So, I made a checklist and I laminated it.
I'm tired of trying to remember everything and I really don't have to, regardless of what my parents tried to tell me. 😂

She asked him and he was thinking that lowering the overall travel time would have been easier on her.
We then got to talking about how the longer we're married the more we think we know ... not better, but that we have sufficient information based on history. But we (and most people, really) forget that we still need to communicate. So I suggested to her (and am going to do this for my own situation) to, when travel is not imminent, create a booking checklist for when either of them book travel. That way before the next booking, they can go over and see if anything needs to be added or can be skipped for this trip.
Because travel, while fun, can be very stressful and starting off a trip with a partner or friend with "why didn't you take this into consideration" is unfun.

I'm lactose intolerant. I don't do cheese most of the time anyway. Is this because I have British citizenship?

I am glad to be home and debating on rerouting my next city appointments that are further out than the terminus of my local train line through the southern option. If it adds an hour each way, I will still be home earlier than last night.
Don't get me wrong. I am THRILLED that DB is finally doing the much needed upgrades. I just wish it hadn't taken the World Cup debacle to shame them into it. And that maybe they had been doing it incrementally all this time so my main train line out isn't absolutely at the whim of how maybe the replacement rail bus company doesn't think that rush hour might need more than two of the touring coaches. (Put regular buses on the route! At least people can stand if there's not enough seating.)
No, I didn't have time to eat anything until I got home at 11pm last night. Why do you ask?

Finally had a chance to get caught up on week 1 of the mystery knit-a-long for Paper Daisy's latest wrap. I did the Mountain Madness MKAL and I loved it so when I saw the color palettes for this one I jumped at it.
Unfortunately, the gradient I bought for it, while gorgeous, was a DK weight and I bought the MC in fingering weight and even I can't fudge that much. So I went into my yarn inventory database and found that I had a set from Wollmeise with eight colors (needed seven) and some undyed in the same base.
All is not lost, the DK weight is going to be a stranded colorwork sweater and I'm looking forward to getting the background yarn for that. The MC I bought will become a winter woolen set of hat and fingerless mitts (and possibly a cowl).
