I often buy watches from China to try out how I feel about new materials, intending to buy a more expensive version later, only to find the cheap watch is excellent in itself and an absolute keeper.
This is the 40mm Boderry Titanium Automatic Field watch with white dial (mainly so the date wheel matches the dial). Under $120 for a full titanium watch waterproof to 100m, sand letter by an NH35 movement, makes this a lovely little bargain & super light.

Most of my cheap watches come from China, so time for a change with what is a bit of a cult classic from Russia, the Vostok Amphibia. Costing just £70 it's a solid bullet proof dive watch with a really quirky vibe to it, from the loose crown protector to the peculiar way of fast setting the date.
There's a YouTube video showing one working all the way up to 800m before finally catastrophically failing, a class act for just 70 quid.

A new favourite, that I've totally fallen in love with. The Kurono Tokyo 2024 Anniversary Reiwa, is inspired by the beauty of ‘Ruri-Numa’ (瑠璃沼), blending a lapis-green metallic periphery with a deep black mirrored center across a single dial.
37mm case, 7mm thick without the domed sapphire, housing a Miyota 90S5, entirely made in Japan. Only 30m water resistance, as it's the epitome of a dress watch.

Thin watches day 2 of 3. This time it's the Seagull D819.612L clocking in (no pun intended) at 9mm thick. Minimalist /Bauhaus plain white dial, blue hands with printed Arabic numerals, and small seconds at 6 o'clock, automatic movement and 30m water resistance.
The sales blurb mentions 34mm case but if be staggered if it was, looks like a 38mm or larger on my wrist, I'll have to measure it at some point (shoddy amateurish review alert).

It's a big statement of how we've processed in that I'm disappointed with the result today; but we'd have gone under last year and lost that, especially down to 10 men.
4 points from away at Liverpool and Brighton is all we could ask for.
On to the next.
COYR!

Thin watches, day one of three. Having started out with the ubiquitous divers, I've grown to love more refined, simple watches especially thin watches.
Today is the Frederique Constant Slimline automatic FC-306X4S6 white dial. Around 9mm thick with plain dial with applied sliver arabic numerals at 3,6,9 and 12.
With an ETA movement inside and 42 hours power reserve. I love its minimalist charm and I'm surprised that I don't miss a second hand at all.

Tough watch alert, day 2. The Victorinox INOX automatic. This chunk of stainless steel is a big old fellow 43mm and 14mm thick. The only Swiss watch to withstand 130 extreme endurance homologation tests, or so they say.
This is the Automatic version with a Sellita SW200 inside and display caseback. The automatic has a waffle effect dial unlike the flat quartz versions.
Despite being a big unit it wears pretty well to my mind.

Tough watch alert...Bit of a rarity in my collection today, a digital watch, the Casio G-Shock Forgotten Future (DW-5600FF-8).
Part of a series focusing on a metallic design reference.
200m water resistance, shock resistant and the newer 3025 module inside giving 5 years battery life. Nice mirror finish around the display makes it a difficult one to photograph though, luckily the grey Manchester sky helping out a bit.
48.9 × 42.8 × 13.4 mm case size.

After a considerable waitlist I'm really pleased to have finally got my hands on this Anordain Model 1 with Iron Cream enamel dial. 38mm, hand wound Sellita SW210 movement.
The hand enameled dial looks lovely despite being relatively unassuming, it gives off a real warmth and shows of the heat blued hands perfectly.
Sometimes less is more.

Another AliExpress sale so I've got my hands on my first Pagani Design for about £30 and I'm stunned at the quality.
I bought it for the VH31 quartz movement that still offers a sweep hand. Nice textured dial, applied polished markers and 100m water resistance with screw down crown.
Sure the bracelet is fairly light and a bit flimsy but adding screws for the links is going above and beyond, and three micro adjustments is nice.
Surprisingly good

An example of just exactly how I feel a smartwatch should look, mainly as I only use the step function.
The Alpina Horological Smartwatch (AL-285STD3C6B) white dial on bracelet, connects to my phone & doing the step thing whilst looking gorgeous when compared to any Apple watch.
It even benefits from not being as sophisticated, only linking when you press the crown by your watch, meaning longer battery life as it's not continually polling Bluetooth all day.

Another Chinese AliExpress delivery, this time the Addiesdive homage to the Hamilton Khaki Field automatic.
The black dial version has matt bead blasted finish making it less prone to scratches. Combined with sapphire glass and 100m water resistance, this makes it a perfect beater watch.
Great quality apart from the strap that I've swapped out, overall an amazing value proposition at just under £100.

Forest literally proving beyond doubt that changing managers doesn't really change things that much.
And if much rather have Steve Cooper in charge in the Championship.
I've never felt so fed up with a season since the Rosario relegation season.

Been a while since I've worn this mainly as I've moved away from diver's watches on the whole but I immediately warmed to this as soon as I pulled it out the box.
A Yema Superman black dial, doing all you need from a diver... simple easy to read dial with plenty of lume, 300m water resistance and sapphire crystal.
I've heard plenty of complaints about the QC of Items but this is the first of three I now own & I've never had a problem with any of them.

Well the AliExpress singles day sale wasn't going to pass without a package arriving a week or so later, and it's a BEAUTY.
Really impressed with the look and quality of this Baltany homage to the Vacheron Constantin 1921 Classique.
40mm in salmon sunburst dial with small seconds.
And, as designed, perfect to read whilst driving. It's gorgeous, great quality and currently running at between 0 and +2 seconds a day according to the timegrapher. Result!

If you're starting out into the mad & expensive world of watch collecting (NB you'll always be poor), there's no finer starter watch than the Orient Kamasu diver, shown here in red dial variant.
A 42mm case that's only 12.8mm thick for a watch with 200m water resistance, an in house auto calibre & sapphire glass.
The perfect everyday watch from an underrated company currently with better QC at a bargain £250 price point than competitors like Seiko.

Out of the watch box for the first time in a while, the automatic Seagull Annual Calendar with lovely textured white bicompax dial, and a date big enough for my aging eyesight.
A nice touch is quick set day, date and month on recessed pushers, leaving just the one crown and a nice clean case design.
As with all Seagull watches, great quality and an accurate timekeeper. I can't speak highly enough of the brand.

You can keep your Apple watches cementing you into their ecosystem and subscriptions, but this is my idea of a smartwatch. The Kronaby Nord embracing an analogue display in a perfect 38mm case size and simple clean dial.
Steps ✅
Customisable vibration alerts ✅
Additional functionality like muting your phone or getting it to trying to find it ✅
It does all I need and in a low key way.

Been a while since I've posted a Seagull watch, even though I love the brand and really appreciate their quality. This is the Seagull Limited Edition 1921 The Founding of CPC Initial Heart Mechanical Watch 819.12.1921. Automatic ST2130 movement with hacking and hand winding, 50m water resistance, sapphire crystal.
But the highlight is the beautifully textured dial and the simplicity of the applied markets and hands.
A classic dress watch.
