I took a break to really focus and added huge chunks to many of the stories for a 2nd collection of short fiction, worked out a ms. for my 4th collection of poetry, and I am 1/2 way through revising my novel once again. Now I am back to working as my brother's Agent again and I'll work on my own things more slowly. #writingcommunity #fiction #poetry #bookstodon

I am not someone who feels I have the energy to devote to creating a long list of followers here. I'd rather be writing, revising, editing, or (yuk) submitting. Their writing is laborious in delivering detail, or doesn't create believable characters. The subject is something I'm familiar with & they have a high school understanding. Is the real problem that publishers take work from authors with strong followings instead of quality writing? I can't worry about any of this. I just have to write what I write. #writers

The impression she had of a major character was so negative I had to soften his image through interaction with the protagonist or she would look like a fool. It is interesting to get an impression from readers of your work about what you mean to portray in your stories. #bookstodon@a.gup.pe #writingcommunity #fiction

The smaller number of people actually led me to more conversations about #writing than I had on FB (I never really did Twitter). But as the numbers grew, so did the conversations about myriad things & I am not someone who wants to spend hours #reading here. Even skimming doesn't find me what I want, so I have been visiting less & less. I think that trend will only continue for me. #writingcommunity #amwriting #editing @bookstodon@a.gup.pe

I used to take years to rework my tales as I learned my craft. Now I realize how I'm #writing my stories, with the layers my friends talk about. Beginning this week I drafted a piece (beginning, middle & end) that was 1,604 words. The next day it was 2,705 words. A few days later it was 3,917 words. Yesterday, it was 4,303 words. Anyone else follow a similar process? #writingcommunity

In the two days before that I wrote a story called 'Plein Air' which is 1,604 words so far and I know it isn't complete. Then, in the three days before that, I wrote a 3,962 word piece called 'The Best of Bad Choices'. What is happening? I feel like a story #writing machine all of a sudden. Today, I've 3,963 words in a layered tale called "The Best of Bad Decisions". Unequal ownership of responsibility for chores, and abandoned by the father of one's baby. He doesn't even say he's leaving. The perfect resolution? Kick him to the curb before he's fully moved out. Keep the beautiful being you're growing within you. I end it there. Otherwise it might turn into a novel in a month! #writing

This is a happy day for me, too, because I just got a request to send my #manuscript for "The Nitty Gritty & Other Complications" from a #publisher I had queried. My fingers are crossed for that collection.

These are some #chickens that #freerange at the end of the beach road. Another neighbour fairly close by has a #chicken #coop but she recently offered her #rooster to anyone who will take him. She considers him an attack rooster. Is that aggressive behaviour common with roosters? I'm still debating the advisability of getting chickens.
