Since he torpedoed his bipartisan billionaire genius myth, I don't think Elon really understands just how hated he has become to average normal people, and how much to the unpopular far right fringe he has pushed himself in the public eye.

For better or worse, mastodon really does feel like pre-2014 twitter.

In that there is a focus on mostly wholesome geek culture & science as well as well-meaning but preachy activists.

Unfortunately there's also what feels like a recycling of some of the toxic drama of that era as well. I hope people learn their lessons better this time around.
