Content warning:Thanksgiving Greetings to those who celebrate #landback
Today for me is challenging. The myth (drawn from the Wampanoags feeding newly arrived Pilgrims) is a symbol of coming together despite differences. Yet the real history of Thanksgiving came from the time of the Civil War, after decades of genocide, torture & erasure of whole peoples. As a supporter of #landback & indigenous rights, this day is a day to focus on gratitude & good works. If you want, contribute to your local tribes this day!

This instance and platform seems to work better when I interact, even though I just want to observe.

But in sessions with people going through their lives, processing their fears & losses, & celebrating their accomplishments, it feels worth it. So when I hit the middle of the week, I just breathe & try to get to bed in enough time to rest up for tomorrow. Because this work is worth doing. For every single one of them. Take care of yourselves out there tonight. We need the work that you’re doing in the world. 💜

I find that time in nature helps when I can get it, moving my body more, and spending time away from screens can be helpful (though I am a huge fan of my devices and screen time). 5/?

I started using this phrase with my clients to describe the experience of brain fog and fatigue that comes after a period of focus, hyperfocus, and/or masking, and can include dopamine seeking behaviors like staying awake (despite exhaustion) to scroll on social media, play video games, binge watching favorite vids, and/or whatever other ways of looking for the dopamine hit has worked in the past. 1/?
What is it about small talk that makes my #ADHD brain want to shut down or flee?

Spent the evening at the communities bonfire that is everyone at Twitter saying goodbye and talking about the good that came of having a global network outside of mainstream news. I’m hopeful the more I’m in these Mastodon communities, I can find the justice/activism/mutual aid/empowerment of oppressed voices/spontaneous art that I found there. And more. 💜
