Very pleased to have just finished my first Spiderweb Software game after playing bits of so many over the years. Avernum has been a massive time sink over the past few months, but immense fun and worth it. Relieved tho, I was determined to get to the end before the B&W G3's Hard Disk conked out which sounds imminent.

Here's how the Macintosh II stacks up with and without the MaraThon Racer 030 accelerator. Solid improvements all round in MacBench. I was surprised at how much of an improvement the 68882 performed over the 68881 in the floating point test, and the video tests are remarkably better, perhaps it makes use of the new cache.

In terms of useful performance, Crystal Crazy now runs at full speed in full screen. 👍

And heres why I got the Mac II. I got this MaraThon Racer 030 accelerator card back in 2020 for about £7. It replaces the 16MHz 020 with a 32MHz 030 and the 68881 with a 68882. It also has 32k of cache which is what makes this board so much larger than the non 'racer' boards which just replaced the CPU. Very interested to see how it performs

First post here! And first new Mac aquisition in a long time, I've been playing with this #Macintosh II for the past week. Unsure if its had any work done sans new pram batteries (and a BlueSCSI) but I've been on the hunt for a working one of these at a not stupid price since I preemptively picked up an accelerator card for it 4 years ago. I play the long game :D
