I know that national security adviser has nothing to do with security, but it's still funny to think how security adviser discusses war plans on a messenger. I mean, what if it actually was *his* advise in the first place?

As you heat your room, its internal energy doesn't change.
"A room is not heated by increasing its internal energy but by decreasing its entropy due to the fact that during heating, the volume and pressure remain constant and air is expelled."
The article is pretty accessible: http://www.stat.physik.uni-potsdam.de/~pikovsky/teaching/stud_seminar/Heating_room.pdf
I repeat, to heat a room you solely transfer energy to the outside.

I mean, SC is a healthier organization then GA thanks to, among other things, the veto power.

I mean, it's far from perfect, but it's literally just few hours away from the primitive stick figure.
Doing it in #inkscape was a brilliant idea btw. I don't need to spend a week learning how to draw smooth lines just to lose all the muscle memory once I stop practicing.

E.g. to increase T you have to decrease V, so they change in opposite directions, but their sum is constant.
When varying the real trajectory, it's other way around. If the new trajectory has more kinetic energy, then system can trade it to get more potential energy. In this case T and V vary in the same direction, but their difference is stationary. That's it.

I'm a bit surprised the latest Veritasium video about the Hamilton's principle didn't actually explain the peculiar minus sign in the Lagrangian for mechanical system:
L = T - V
It's all about energy conservation actually.
Here is my take:

Ah, "Nuclear theorists"...

It should be possible to implement browser in two weeks to make sure we won't have monopolies anymore.

#haskell puzzle for you. The following code rightfully produces a "Redundant constraint: MonadReader () m" warning:
{-# OPTIONS_GHC -Wredundant-constraints #-}
import Control.Monad.Reader
import Control.Monad.State
test :: (MonadReader () m, MonadState () m) => m ()
test = do
-- when False (return ())
get
But when you uncomment the "when False (return ())" line, the warning disappears. Guess why? No, it's not a bug, at least you can argue it's not.

Well, I disagree with the "unfortunately" part, because otherwise #math would be inconsistent, which would be truly unfortunate.
