Lid theory: The temperature listed is what that lid can withstand (in case of microwaving) and it was determined that 120C was too high. It isn't about the contents, but what it can withstand before getting melty.

Also to pick your nit: Look up the origin of the term "Boba". I'm not super comfortable using it. It has some ick.
