I don’t even know how to express the exhaustion I feel day-to-day. It’s not physical because I sleep damn near professionally. I’ve mostly just referred to it as existential exhaustion, like an itch right beneath the skin you can’t quite reach.

It is actually incredible that you will have people say that “Capitalism is responsible for the increase in the standard of living over the last 200 years.”

That is such a load of bullshit and I’m glad this video addresses it. The standard of living, at least in the US, improved in spite of capitalism. We got programs like the FDA to stop capitalism from quite literally poisoning its own population. Like the video mentions most of the agencies in the government existed because the people of the US needed the government to step in and stop companies from in many cases killing people in the name of profit.

The answer was never capitalism, it was always the collective power of the average person that raised the standard of living.

Imagine betting the survival of the human race on a technology just figuring out the climate crisis for us.

“Proponents of AI say that the massive energy needs will eventually abate as the technology leads to scientific discoveries that accelerate innovation in fields like batteries and solar photovoltaic (PV) technology. However, that’s a big fat maybe.”

There is no universe where you want to hear this coming from your own government:

“We need to get better at treating this like a business,” Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons said, explaining he wants to see a deportation process “like (Amazon) Prime, but with human beings.”

This shit is real, real, real bad.

Anger and frustration about the state of US politics.

I still feel like I don’t hear more people talking about how devastating these tariffs are going to be. We are making an extremely risky bet but the chips are the lives of millions of Americans that will more than likely die from preventable illnesses, homelessness, poverty, starvation, and the list goes on.

And what is it even for? What are we getting out of this? Manufacturing jobs? The capitalists will automate 90% of the work, import 5%, and then still not hire American. The problem isn’t China, the problem is we treat the price of everything going up as some law of nature, it isn’t. If you wanna have trade wars force the corporate capitalists to use their money to fund it, don’t expect the most vulnerable part of the population to bear the brunt of your ridiculous decisions.

God what deplorable human beings, to be that disconnected from reality, that human life is not a good enough reason to give you pause before making a monumental decision like that.

I can’t begin to explain my exhaustion with the current state of the US. We are watching in real-time a couple of billionaires attempt to rewrite history, reignite old wars, and start brand new ones.

There is this pervasive sense of apathy and ignorance that has to be pushed aside. These people aren’t gods, and their money does not make them anymore human than you or I. This is very obvious when you think about how much they spend advertising, marketing, and storytelling. If their power was somehow absolute, they wouldn’t need to constantly reaffirm it for you.

We cannot and should not let these people drag us into a new dark age. The advancement of a more compassionate, more understanding, and more diverse human condition is imperative to our collective prosperity.

Seeing OpenAI and Google confidently claim that copyright should play no part in their ability to train their AI models is hilarious. It’s even funnier that they are then positioning it as, “Oh if we aren’t allowed to steal as much information possible, our adversaries in China will just do it!”

What a thinly veiled digital land grab, it’s disgusting.

Mental Health, work/life balance

Truly I wish I was in a position to quit my job like today. Every single element of living being attached to whether or not I get a paycheck is slowly killing me, but being without it would probably mean a much faster death.

No matter the strides I make in my personal wellbeing, the stress of my job makes it impossible to continually focus on my personal improvement.

I’m not sure how to break this vicious cycle, but I’m confident if I don’t figure it out, there will be consequences for me.

What I’m learning as I get older is how much nonsense I was told in my childhood about the ways of the world that just bled into my own view over time.

I’ve gotten a lot more critical when it comes to my own beliefs, thoughts, and feelings about things like marriage, relationships, work, hobbies, sexuality, etc.

I very often feel behind the times because in a lot of ways I wasn’t afforded the freedom to explore who I was without some form of oppressive bias being layered on top.

Who I am seems for the most part to be a moving target, and the uncertainty of that is both very scary and very comforting.

AI never had a chance. The corpus of information and those in control of disseminating that information are compromised by so many ism’s that it would be too lengthy to list them all. How could we expect a system that consumes only what it’s given to be anything but deleterious towards the general human condition? We only ever had to look to its creator to understand how the creation would be flawed.

I think it’s weird that the assumption in some post-apocalyptic media is that more selfish characteristics are somehow more beneficial to survival. I think if anything they would be severely detrimental to one’s survival. Community and the sharing of resources are what lifted humanity out of nature in the first place, why would it be any different the second time?
