Our #JWST rocky exoplanet team is back with a new result:
Water Vapor in the data of warm rocky planet! π¦
But is it from the planet's atmosphere or cool star spots on the star?? π π€ π΄

Not that I owe anyone explanations, but I'm just not enjoying astronomy at the moment and also in the midst of moving between states and dealing with Button's health and my own health. Reminder that mutuals and people I know IRL are welcome at my personal account where I post more regularly. @erinmm

This planet is about 300 degrees Celsius and tidally locked to it star (one side in perpetual daylight), so not exactly habitable for life as we know it π₯΅
We don't clearly detect an atmosphere (expected, we don't have all our data yet!) but we also can't rule an atmosphere out at this point! πͺπ

There's some exciting science I can't wait to share with you next week! πͺπ (Let's just say there's a reason I've been relatively quiet here recently π)
This weekend we have the ExoPAG meeting - ExoPAG exists to coordinate community input/responses to NASA on their exoplanet exploration program. This is my first ExoPAG meeting as a member of the ExoPAG executive committee, very excited!

My New Years Resolution is to DNF more books.
"But Erin," you say.
"Wouldn't it make more sense to have your resolution be to *read* more books?"
No! Not at all! I already read a healthy amount. And I often read *less* because I get stuck on a book I can't get into. I'm giving books 50-100 pages this year, and if I'm still struggling I'm putting them down.
