This is just wild to me, since it will throw out all of the ontological information and collapse it down by stacking various cultural assumptions on top of one another: Wikidata editors; C4 Web pages; and approximate it all using English or other colonial languages.

Just found out from Charlotte's Web and https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/list#Etymology_4 that English "list" used to have an additional meaning coming from German "lust" or desire, wish. That sense has been lost but we still have "listless" or a lack of enthusiasm and energy. I badly wanted this to also have some relation to "listen" but it doesn't seem to be the case. Or?

In breaking news, my cats attempted to assassinate a houseplant last night. Happily, it seems that neither cat was hurt by the falling pot, despite the plant suffering minor damage from the fall and scattering dirt everywhere. A nearby potted clover was badly bitten and might not grow back.

The plant is now repotted to the next size of pot. It was a gaudy red anthurium looking like it belonged in a hotel so I wouldn’t mind whatever happens to it—but we keep it around because kid is attached.
