In today's @Nature, Fariba Karimi (CSH Vienna) and I argue that age limits ("under 40") for early-career academic awards and prizes are discriminatory against women and young parents. A more inclusive approach would use career-age requirements ("within 7 years of PhD") and allow exceptions for extenuating circumstances.
