UniFi’s modular setup of a separate controller and router / gateway software has always struck me as a bit weird.

But after our UniFi USG died this evening, everything basically just kept working after plugging theAPss and controller into another router.

Now the architecture suddenly makes a lot more sense. 😅

It’s not often that an Apple product gets worse over time, but after a few good years the HomePod setup (2 large 1st gen HomePods and 2 minis) we have is so unreliable and buggy: stereo pair drift out of sync, songs don’t play and I don’t even need to bring up Siri.

Now the bass woofer on one of the large HomePods has died… Back to Sonos I think!
