It’s just that they end up having the same anti-collectivist econ approach as the libertarian, self-sufficiency (anti-society/anti-modernity) Little House on the Praerie Greens. 🤷♂️

In contrast, Common Weal (policy & research head @thecommongreen) propose collectivist - state rather than individual - infrastructure policies & approaches such as *district heating*.👌

…this is unsurprising bc of the whole fundamental engagement with and communication of climate change and response. By everybody and most parties (largely excepting moderate academia & experts), not just executive govt.
And its frequent political weaponisation.

I will largely resist from commenting on why and who is to blame (beyond all of us given democracy)…
….aside from noting broad lack of appreciation of real challenge, lack of ambition (diff. if challenge not fully appreciated) & common focus on aspects without understanding or communicating the whole.
Shrill, neo-apocalyptic messaging (yet combined with a common impression & PR that green - esp. in energy - is easy & solved) from some of those most interested doesn’t help….

UK House of Commons Committee recommends that Boris Johnson “should be suspended… for repeated contempts & for seeking to undermine the parliamentary process, by:
a) Deliberately misleading the House
b) Deliberately misleading the Committee
c) Breaching confidence
d) Impugning the Committee & thereby undermining the democratic process of the House
e) Being complicit in the campaign of abuse & attempted intimidation of the Committee.”

And despite its depth & erudition on legal & trade matters it’s v readable.
I cannot commend it enough.
This one is a stand-out on the state of Brexit’s failure (+ “betrayal” myth and/or weak denial of failure vs strawman “disaster”) & nuanced thinking on Labour’s smart if “grubby” political stance.

It’s interesting observing the media and really it’s all largely muted. In this age - streaming media and choice - you can avoid the hagiographic bs.
And there was clearly a sense that the idea of the public pledge of allegiance was a misstep. It came from the church apparently. Outdated and out of touch too - so that is unsurprising.
(Meanwhile, more importantly, local elections!)
