Finally making progress on the Kairyu design. I started a few years ago, using some low resolution and very distorted plans from the US Naval Technical Mission to Japan. I now have official copies of plans for quite a few aspects of this boat.

16.2.2025 19:26We had a fox visiting the backyard after the snow.We made another functional 3D print. We got a bird feeder that identifies what type of birds come to feed. We have put our bird feeders outside the kitchen table window because it keeps the squirrels out of the feeder. This new feeder did not come with a window mount, so we had to design one.

It can control the pulse in a way that you can grow colored oxides on metals like stainless steel and titanium. My guess is that it will generally work on self passivating metals.
I have a rotary attachment that is coming as well.

The next step to take it to the next level for comparison is to import the camera poses and pictures from Reality Capture into Blender and then do a final comparison with the CAD model. That is a tomorrow effort.
For now, here is my roughly positioned camera pose overlaid on a picture with transparency.

Reality Capture workflow. Now I use a single plane of symmetry to "increase" the dataset. I took each picture and mirrored it about the vertical plane. This allowed capturing symmetrical features that I only originally had views from one side.
Still manually using control points and manually positioning them. I then extract the control points and then back compare to my CAD model. It is easiest to combine this workflow in @Blender Here is a diagram of the workflow.

I think that I am getting close to being able to make proportion changes while also using the picture itself.

Using low resolution diagrams and pics to get the shape correct with @Blender and fSpy to align the views of a picture to the actual model. It is not perfect but close.
By doing this, I found that the trailing edge of the aft fins were not aligned to the aft edge of the body tube. I was also able to identify that my mounting lug on the forward fins is too small and that I need to increase the diameter of the boss.

I may have overdone it a bit!?Anyone know if there is an Android app that will automatically connect to a generic BLE Bluetooth 4.0 device when in range? I have a microbit that I want to respond when my phone comes in range. It is going to be a reminder light to grab my phone before I leave.

I am wanting to take it to the next step of simulating antennas for my RC submarines. I will need to see if I can change the domain from air to water as well as still have some air in the simulation .

Looking at PCB tools. Would go with Altium CircuitStudio, but since 2018 is still at V1.5. Looked at DipTrace and might go there eventually. Might go back to RSDesignSpark PCB, but it was quirky. KiCAD is out without integrated autorouter.

Magnetic shielding may be needed to prevent that from interfering with the measurement

This design will fit a piston tank ø2.375" and have a travel of 3.9". The sensor package measures 0.9" x 0.36" x 0.5".
Here are the mechanical resolutionsfor different bit resolution magnetic encoders:

*12bit: 0.00095"
*14bit: 0.00024"
Today I was able to get some things out of my head. This is a bit of stream of consciousness as I started to converge on an idea. I have some hand sketches that started it, and then moved to a simple tool such as PowerPoint to increase fidelity without significant time going to 3D.

Not sure if I want to apply the patina before or after setting the stone. And yes the stone is inverted as I am trying to go for a specific look.
