Reinforcing my last point, I think the approval process would turn many away. I also think in general the Mastodon website is poorly designed. It is confusing and there should be an option to search for certain servers. The variety of topics, and almost exclusive feel, would probably attract people, however. #imfederatednow

The approval process of getting into a server would turn me away from using this outside of class. I had to wait a day to get approved; by then, I had forgotten which servers I even applied for. Our generation's attention span has been destroyed too far for these servers not to be instantly joinable. Other than that, however, I would say the layout and authentic feel of everything attracts me in general. I liked reading along with what people were saying; it gave me a wide variety of topics.
