Spelling errors are increasing in published papers over time. Here are two of my favourites:
- "Demographers have long held that prosperity brings lower birth and death rats."
- "Reviewers feel that authors recurrently confront them with careless or intentionally misleading submissions in their attempt to get their wok published."

Growing error rates (not rats) are a sign of sloppy research and the pernicious influence of "publish or perish".

- Lightning talks - Short talks of no longer than five minutes to be presented in "Lightning Panel" groups.
- Workshops - Should be presented by experienced researchers who give -guided instruction and training on a particular topic.
- Hackathons - A hands-on project with a clear end goal.
- Discussion groups - Unstructured but with a focal issue or question.
