Hello! Can you see this post? I presume so...
(Had to revert some changes to my Mastodon instance, testing.)
Since the preview image is not shown in Mastodon, here's the full version in high detail!
5.2.2025 19:13Since the preview image is not shown in Mastodon, here's the full version in high detail!Oops. I think I accidentally opted-out most of the web...
At least, I followed best practices from © regulations and recent court cases to determine the Opt-Out status of the top websites:
➜ ~86% are opted out of TDM,
➜ +5% require non-commercial use.

Did Meta's Threads end up being compatible with the Fediverse protocols? If so, are you following anyone over there with success?
5.2.2025 16:29Did Meta's Threads end up being compatible with the Fediverse protocols? If so, are you following anyone over there with success? There are two reasons this case has taken a turn:
1) Meta employees are straightforward confessing when deposed, even as interviewer lacked knowledge.
2) Lawfirm accused of being "unable or unwilling" to litigate by judge (malpractice) was partly replaced.

The @arxiv bot is running posting highlights again. Since the Mastodon streaming API broke, it's now looking for specific tags in RSS feeds... Let's see how it manages over the next days.

I may just write the code to follow a bunch of RSS feed for known tags on known instances...

20.10.2024 15:43Many innovations in #LLM still remain buried in research papers because the turn-around time to getting the results into large models is too...Since Mastodon 4.2 nerfed the streaming of public or federated timelines from servers, it's been impossible to keep the @arxiv bots going as originally intended: boosting on-topic posts from across the Fediverse.
Trying out relay servers, but they are very conservative in letting you stream posts, and few servers opt-in...
Thinking the best option may be to create accounts+tokens on popular servers?

How come it's so difficult to change the domain of a running instance?

13.8.2024 18:48Migrating my Mastodon instance to a new URL. Hopefully this works!Turns out the 4,2 update of Mastodon has closed up the streaming API end-point that the bots relied on to get their updates.
There are ways to access this with OAuth tokens, but unfortunately due to a bug it doesn't work for clients (only registered users).
Not sure how to fix this yet. If anyone is willing to spend 250-500 EUR on a bounty, there's a developer willing to fix the client authentication bug!

(I think it'd be best to use an online API now instead of Galactica anyway. Perplexity's beta API is great!)

i find it pretty funny we can teach grammar to a <10M model (vs. 1.5B for GPT-2) but not on any human text; we have to train a >10000x bigger model on all the world’s knowledge and ask it to pretend to be a 3-year-old first. https://twitter.com/eldanronen/status/1658321669407248387
