I recently finished But Not Too Bold by Hache Pueyo. It was marketed as The Shape of Water meets Mexican Gothic. The comp. titles, being great works of fiction, set me up for disappointment.

Bite-size review: The gothic undertones and evocative descriptions weren't enough to carry the story.
