https://youtu.be/ToDUMYWWn2s I recently got myself a new strat style SX. The shop talk where I work is that SX vtg series has a really decent body. They just cheap out on the hardware and pickups etc. So my plan is to slowly upgrade as time goes by.

The hope is that I can turn this R1000 guitar into a R10000 guitar.

I realise this is probably wishful thinking. But it'll fun and educational for me. So even if it doesn't end up being working out as well as I hope, it'll still be worth it to me.

More than one person has asked me, why I wouldn't want to go viral (At least not early on in my career).

In 1988, Jimmy Cauty and Bill Drummond wrote a book titled: The Manual (How to Have a Number One the Easy Way)

"The majority of Number Ones are achieved early on in the artist's public career, before they have been able to establish reputations and build a solid fan base. Most artists are never able to recover from having one and it becomes the millstone around their necks to which all subsequent releases are compared.... either artists will be destroyed in their attempt to prove to the world that there are other facets to their creativity or they succumb willingly and spend the rest of their lives as a travelling freak show, peddling nostalgia for those now far off, carefree days."

Although this was written 35 years ago, in the context of music releases, I feel like it transfers well into today's social media content and meme culture.

I've been wondering for a while now, why my youtube view numbers are wonky. Not in a bad way. I'm not concerned at all. Just curious...

I've been wondering for a while now, why my youtube view numbers are wonky. Not in a bad way. I'm not concerned at all. Just curious how I'll sometimes lose a view or two.

I finally have a theory!

Say two people watch the same video at the same time. Its the old problem of two people working on the same code. When one saves, they overwrite the other persons work. So 2 views becomes 1 view.

Now obviously youtube will have a contingency in place to prevent this. I'm just not sure what that contingency is. (Maybe they cache view counts and then just update the server every so often, so you never have multiple view updates happening at the same time.)

I'm not a programmer. I just like puzzles.
