If you go to the online Notes & Sources for chapter 16 you'll find a discussion of this in relation to a close autistic friend, who I think does demonstrate empathy - just differently from me. I'm thinking of importing this into the main body of the book for paperback, as a footnote. I really appreciate your feedback.
