I'm once again hearing of a spam wave without actually seeing any spam on my TL. Massive kudos to the #socialcoop mod team for the work...

I'm once again hearing of a spam wave without actually seeing any spam on my TL. Massive kudos to the #socialcoop mod team for the work they must have been putting in.

I've hardly seen any garbage in my feed since I've joined this instance, in fact. It shows that Fediverse moderation _can_ be done well, even with a coop's limited resources.

A friend who was supposed to be on a flight to Israel from an EU country as part of a humanitarian aid mission says they were just denied boarding. Their group included Red Cross volunteers and UN representatives among other aid workers. They were supposed to work in a West Bank refugee camp, not even close to Gaza.

So Israel is now blocking aid to any Palestinians in distress as collective punishment. Add that to the daily growing list of war crimes.

Why do people boost replies to their posts?

I understand wanting to endorse other people's replies, but boosting is a pretty bad way to do it from another user's perpective.

On a chronological timeline I see the boost before the original post, so without context, and I have to click through to see a post which I would have seen on my TL anyway. It feels very redundant.

I was never on Twitter so I don't know if it worked differently there...
