Oh, ha ha. The last one just finished and it did. It showed me the Apple Intelligence welcome screen on startup with only a "Continue" button, which didn't happen on the others. Check System Settings and there it is, enabled.

I've always found things like fax and #SMS messaging great fun, so I've accidentally spent time this evening figuring out how to send, read and delete SMS messages using #Huawei #E3372 USB modems and #curl.

It's unfinished, but this has been tested with E3372h-153 and E3372h-320 modems. It's probably fine with the latest E3372h-325 as well. The formatting of the session token was just a little different, the API paths were thankfully the same.

Two things are really hurting my @Vivaldi experience at the moment. The first is its awful window redraw speed on macOS, but the killer is its completely blurry appearance on Ubuntu 24.04. The whole window, title bar, web content, the lot; just fuzzy and I have no idea why. It's the same on both of my Ubuntu machines. Weird.

Repurposing my wife's retired #MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012) to find the battery, despite being thoroughly abused and uncared-for over that time, is still at 92% capacity and holds charge just great. Nearly 500 cycles.

The 2017 model I picked up as my rough-and-tumble laptop was just over 400 cycles, but given the thirst of the i7 was utterly destroyed. It would drop out at 50% charge.

This 2012 has a mighty keyboard, ethernet port, and an optical drive. I'm considering using it! 😲

Not only had its data SIM expired early, so had its microSD card; though it would partly boot, which was confusing. While trying to hook it up to a monitor, my HDMI switcher died. To use my iPad to view the image instead I needed my HDMI to USB-C adapter, which hid. Connecting directly gives half an image, mostly in red, green, and a special shimmering purple.

Folks who are interested in @trmnl might want to seek out an #OpenFrame given the #TRMNL folks are happy for their servers to be used with other devices for a small fee. 👍

The touch screen on the OpenFrame matches the 800x480 resolution of the TRMNL's #eink display, so with a tiny bit of scripting you can mix TRMNL plugins and whatever full-colour content you may fancy.

My TRMNL is on its way, but I've been using the #OpenFrame to play with the API in the meantime. Great stuff!
