Four years ago today, on Friday, 22nd January 2021, I launched my first Mac app, #HacKit! It began as a simple Hacker News reader where you could browse stories, dive into comments and perform basic searches.

The journey started in 2020 after I graduated from the Apple Developer Academy. #HacKit was initially built on macOS Catalina using an Intel Mac and later released on macOS Big Sur.

I started development during the pandemic on macOS Catalina and published it on Big Sur. I had downloads from all over the world, even from underrepresented countries. One day, I had a huge number of downloads from Germany and it was all down to a German blog focussed on all things related to Apple.

The first version of HacKit was a simple reader and now the later version leveraged Core Data to track stories and manage folders.

Now I am working on my second Mac app, Oliphaunt.
