I first explored space syntax 15 years ago. It has come a long way in that time. I find myself helping a student who is applying it to a very cool topic (no spoilers! - not my research). To be a better advisor, I've returned to and run some basic analyses on the road network here in Edinburg. A quick and dirty analysis, for sure, but pretty it its own way, I think.

Analysis was completed using QGIS and some minor editing in Affinity Photo.

New Year’s Day 2023 marks the 100th anniversary of the (beginning of the) Rosewood Massacre, when violence broke out in the prosperous, mostly African American town after a Black man was falsely accused of assault by a white woman in nearby Sumner. Over the next week, at least eight people would be killed and every Black-owned building burned to the ground.
