pinboard.in has served me pretty well for nearly 7 years (RIP del.icio.us) as a lightweight and easy to use bookmarking service. But the API is currently timing out, and it's been on a slow slide into unreliability. I think it's time to move on.

Programmers, have we all just accepted that AI tools in our editors are the new table stakes?

I've kept AI features turned off for a long time, out of some sense that my code stays more "pure" and understandable (by me and others) if I am intentional about each line. But is this just me sticking my head in the sand? Do I have to start paying for Copilot or otherwise risk falling behind other programmers?

Things I care about:
- tab sync across devices (macOS mostly, but windows and iOS too)
- good support for 1Password
- ability to do some ad blocking (extensions are cool)
- not a whole lot of bloat, marketing of services, etc
- developer tools

Caveat: Not super interested in Chrome.

#SwiftUI animation is hard. Harder than it should be.

I appreciate folks who have put out resources (blogs, tutorials, sample code, etc) to help others grasp at the capabilities of the animation system. I've seen some truly incredible work. The #WWDC23 talks on the Animation system were also enlightening.

But it still feels really hard to go from a vision or idea to an implementation. In my opinion, *we need better debugging and introspection tools*. There's too much guess-and-check right now.

If someone could port Xcode Previews to a VSCode plugin, that would be really, really cool.

While the source editing in Xcode has gotten better slowly (yay Vim Mode!), I don't think it will ever catch up to a solid editor with an open ecosystem of extensions like VSCode.

Has anyone reversed the protocol Xcode uses to get data from the Simulator process(es)? Would be fun to collab on this as an open source project.
