He’s making animated films with real people.

Pretty much every aspect of his shot composition (character placement, use of space and depth, control of color) appears to be thoroughly considered. In live-action filmmaking, you can dress a set, block out your performers’ marks, and when you roll camera, reality fills the gaps. In animation, you need to have an intention behind everything that ends up on screen or your gaps will show. Anderson doesn’t leave any gaps. #AsteroidCity
