Had my first therapy appt to try to figure out why I’m having trouble focusing at work.

I expected tips like removing external distractions, making todo lists, setting goals/milestones and other standard productivity tips.

She suggested taking up creative hobbies that I find fulfilling, and getting out of the house more to do the things I want to do instead of focusing on work all day and my family & home all night.

No idea if her way will work, but I do like her ideas more than mine.

My daughter asked google what the acceptable dosage on some medicine was. I told her that's not the type of question you can trust ai for, and you need to go to a trusted original source for any sort of medical question rather than trust the blurb at the top of results.

She responded with "I didnt ask ai, I searched google"

So now I think people not only need to be aware of the limitations, but also be aware of what info comes from ai, which may be a harder problem. 2/2

If you would find it insulting to send a lmgtfy link to someone, then sending a chatgpt response isn't any less insulting.

I've mentioned this before, but one thing about #wfh that I can't imagine ever leaving behind again is the ability to make slow cooked meals through the workweek. Made brisket on the #traeger a couple days ago. Today I diced up a couple pounds of the brisket leftovers for chili.

I couldn't have made either of these meals working from the office. My kids would have ate some quick ultra-processed garbage instead that I could throw together in 15-30 min after I got home.

1. Write a design doc to solve this eng problem. (it will go off on tangents which might be useful to read through, but it will be an otherwise unusable doc)
2. Write code that does X,Y,Z in a language that I don't know well enough to review. (results will either have huge caveats, or it will hallucinate functions that aren't part of the stdlib)

Again, great as a tool or assistant. Not as a replacement for people yet.

2. Here is a piece of code that should do X, Y, Z. How would you improve it?
3. We have this issue <insert bug description>. What types of things could cause this?

It is great as a personal assistant. It isn't there yet as a replacement.

They just can't pass up a generated image of a 20 foot long 8 foot wide live edge kitchen island with the caption "goals" that now flood all of the Facebook content farm pages.

When the way AI describes what some code does doesn't jive with what I intended the code to do, the bug has been in the code I wrote every time so far.

I can't help but click on images that appear to be AI generated to play "find the ridiculous parts". So now I've effectively trained Facebook to show me nothing but content farm pages that have been flooded with shitty AI images
