Predictive computational archaeology: 1) using Big Data to determine likely nodes of undiscovered archaeological material; 2) using Big Data to predict candidate nodes that will become things/places of archaeological interest in the future. Scalable.

A colleague at George Washington University needs some help with an project, tracking down an elusive fan-created level from the South Korean mobile game, Geometry Dash. To learn more about the problem, see this video by YouTuber Stormfly: youtube.com/watch?v=W2VOlxhduI. Fox Besch is working with the player community to create a history of the game, of which this missing level is an integral part. If you can help, please write Fox at fbesch16@gmail.com.

The current edition to-hand of Renfrew & Bahn is from 2012.... Sat here hoping that a later edition has an updated section on the impact of digital tools and methods on the human agents of site destruction and on mitigating site damage? This all starts c. page 548 ff. in the 2012 edition. A simple yes or no will do, whether that section's been updated theory-wise. Thank you.

An question for the set: If a player crafts an item, does it get tagged with the crafter's handle, and is it then "permanent" in the game? Say "Player 1" makes a bespoke axe and "Player 2" buys it. Does the axe say that "Player 1" made it, and will the tag follow the item around from trade-to-trade?

Dear Hivemind: In , do we see the use of the term "narrative granularity" when applied to the interpretation of archaeological data? That is to say, a kind of "slider" where top-level data tells one "macro" story about a site, and data tied to say, a particular box in a Harris matrix tells another, perhaps more personal or detailed story?

A scribble: can be a means to an end in understanding emergent behavior in archaeological sites. Because of the speed in which games are developed, used, retired, and have an afterlife, and because of the relative speed of human use/play, archaeologists can observe as microtransactions/events compound into macro-level things in real-time. An interesting project might be to compare those results with data collected from physical archaeological sites.
