Early #FreeMarket advocates like #AdamSmith did not foresee #EconomiesOfScale.

Their idea of free markets works as long as most employees eventually become self-employed. Economies of scale ruined that in a way. Large companies are much more efficient, so being self-employed will never pay off for most people.

After a last chat and lunch, the conference is over, and people disperse. For me, the interdisciplinary format was very fruitful. So many ways to look at planets -- their host #stars, #astrospheres, #moons, #habitability, #chemistry, #geology, life -- all interlocked. Looking forward to the 2nd edition in 2025!

Paul can define an abiogenesis based on the availability of UV radiation for the prebiotic networks. Most of the terrestrial planets we know lie within the liquid water zone, however, cannot start these prebiotic networks due to a lack of UV.

Stellar flares might provide the necessary UV light, but even flare active M dwarfs don't seem to be able to produce enough UV either. But flares can also destroy atmospheres. Avoiding the latter, while having enough UV is very challenging.
