But no new-follower notification or any of my Mastodon posts in my Pxlmo feed. I assume Pxlmo is the culprit.

One of them, a large one, only sends a confirmation mail to the new email address. What does this mean?

If someone manages to log into your account, they can change the address to one of their own and impersonate you. Imagine the potential professional damage.

As your email addresses are easy to look up, or even guess, make sure your passwords aren't.
