I normally can’t work while listening to music as my brain immediately focuses on the music. But today, instead of working in silence, I opted for some gentle classical piano music. And up popped Bach’s Goldberg Variations, my old beloved friend. What a wonderful work soundtrack. However, it also unearthed some buried memories I wasn’t expecting. The music wasn’t distracting this time, it was the memories.

This morning a rival challenged it and they connected talon-to-talon like eagles and spiralled down, hitting the deck below. The winner (pictured) flew back while the other sang its signature northern flicker “waka waka waka” call. #birding #nature #wildlife #birds #canada #britishcolumbia #vancouver #sunshinecoast

It’s been so long since I’ve worn these skates. I now live in a rural community but apparently there’s a group doing drop-in rollerskating lessons this evening at a neighbouring town church hall and I so I unpacked these skates, the first time in almost 7 years. I think I need to go to this. #rollerskating #sunshinecoastbc

My weary 40s current self did not even think to proactively seek it out on Spotify or YouTube or anywhere. I had to let serendipity of virtual Irish radio guide my way. How I love the serendipity of radio. #radio

It was Clannad’s In a Lifetime, a song I always knew existed but hadn’t ever actually heard. Until now.
