Greetings from the Boston Anarchist Bookfair!

Here’s a QUICK flyer to remind everyone to sign up SOON if you wanna table, host a workshop, or volunteer at this year’s fair! Taking place October 19-20, from 10am-6pm, at the Cambridge Community Center.

The book fair will be at the CCC again this year, so both main entrances, tabling and main workshop space, and bathrooms are all wheelchair accessible. We are considering also utilizing the basement for some programming and workshop overflow, but that space is unfortunately not wheelchair accessible. We are still working out the details for this, though, so if this poses any exclusions for you please don’t hesitate to reach out! We are aiming for fully hybrid workshops this year as well as flexibility in the schedule.

We will continue our COVID precautions this year, including the respirator requirement inside of the building. We may not have the same testing station outside as last year, but will do our best to acquire free rapid tests to ensure that everyone has access to testing. Please do not come to the book fair if you have symptoms, have tested positive for COVID within 10 days of the fair, or have been recently exposed to COVID. Additionally, we will have air purifiers with HEPA or MERV13 filtration throughout the space as well as filtered Far-UVC lights. Ventilation will be monitored and adjusted throughout the weekend.

We are so thrilled with how the 2023 Boston Anarchist Bookfair turned out! It was an amazing weekend filled with new reads, new and old friends, workshops and skillshares, and a team of volunteers that held everything together. We cant thank you all enough for being part of it.

(But I'm gonna try....)

So much gratitude to the Cambridge Community Center, Bad Comrade Print for coming through with our shirts, KIDZONE volunteers, our safety and medic teams, general volunteers and co-organizers!!! Boston COVID Action for donating high quality masks and rapid COVID tests that surely made our event safer 😷
📚 The vendors who lugged heavy crates of books and beautiful radical prints to the space (and like us, stayed up late photocopying zines!!)... and all the workshop presenters, both online and in-person, for sharing your experience and expertise.🧙

If you have any feedback for us, good or bad, please email us for a lil survey so we can gather your thoughts. This bookfair is put together by volunteers, many of whom are super new to working on it, so we look forward to hearing how we can continue to grow and improve in the years to come.

🗯️ About our COVID mitigation rules this year: (Please read!!)

The COVID-19 pandemic is ongoing, and it's crucial that we do our best to mitigate potential spread at the bookfair. In addition to reducing illness overall, COVID mitigations like mask requirements are also a disability justice issue. Many people have been shut out from public life due to the lifting of government-led mask mandates. Let's ensure that disabled/immunocompromised folks and others at higher risk feel welcome and safe while attending this year's Anarchist Bookfair. We keep us safe!

Below are our full COVID-19 mitigations. If you have any questions, or need to talk to us about a medical exemption or any other accessibility needs, please don’t hesitate to email bostonanarchistbookfair@gmail.com

• Please do not come if you are feeling sick, tested positive for covid within 10 days of the bookfair, or were recently exposed to someone with COVID-19.

• We encourage everyone attending the bookfair to monitor their symptoms and test before arriving if that is accessible to you. (we’ll also have tests available)

• Masks are required for everyone (age 2+) at this event.
Masks must be worn over your nose and mouth at all times inside of the space except while drinking water. (otherwise, food and drinks outside only please!)

• We’ll provide KN95 + N95 masks, and accept donations to help pay for them
◦ If you bring your own mask, it must be surgical or better. No cloth masks please.

• We will have true hepa air purifiers (or cr boxes utilizing merv-13 quality air filters) throughout the space to clean the air

• Depending on the status of covid-19 in the boston area, we may add additional precautions, or we may cancel in-person tabling altogether if the caseload in Massachusetts is too high
