Natural birth quacks, like Lemay, are a blight in childbirth. Many serious problems happen when care is not provided by those competent in obstetrics. 'Natural' does not mean safe. You wouldn't trust a chiropractor for heart surgery; don't rely on natural birth proponents because there are far more professional experts to depend on.

Maternity care was the worst, unsurprisingly. Lest one think New Brunswick is an outlier, we can assure you it is not. All provinces have this problem and patient centred care, quality care by competent practioners in properly resourced hispitals, respect for bodily autonomy and respect for birthing people is key to improvement.

All these are factors, but let's address the elephant in the room. Women are better informed about the morbidity associated with vaginal birth that decreases their quality of life for their lifetime. They understandably don't want that, and they don't want the same treatment for their daughters.

It often doesn't work, and when it does, the results are usually temporary and/or doesn't fix the problem completely, leaving patients with the same problem after what is a painful surgery with a long recovery time. When it fails, the results are catastrophic.
