It's not wrong to abbreviate things and simplify them for the purpose of shorthand representation in media either.

Therefore in the cultural sense, it's also helpful to have an understand of what colors represent.

Red is frequently negative, low battery, etc.
Green = life, new, spring, young.
Blue = good, air, water, clean
Yellow = light, happy

And so on.
